Confirming that there’ll be additional expansions on the way post-launch, Blizzard also said that the game will feature a wide array of cosmetic items, some of which can only be acquired by players through microtransactions. Once more details become available, most likely during this year's Blizzcon, I'll make sure to let you know.The news first broke when the California-based game developer spoke to Twitch streamer Quin69. This would give fans what they have been asking for nearly three years now, while not really impacting the success of the multiplayer version. Releasing 'Overwatch 2' as a pure sequel makes absolutely no sense, so I think it's accurate that the new Overwatch spin-off will feature a much greater PvE focus, as well as a story-orientated campaign. Out of the two projects, Diablo 4 is probably going to be fairly straightforward, but this rumored 'Overwatch 2' is most likely going to be a bit of a surprise. The Diablo team has already announced they're working on multiple projects, the Overwatch team has hired on a bunch of new writers despite outputting about a single A4 page of lore each year, while the resent restructuring within Activision-Blizzard didn't reduce the number of Blizzard developers, but instead increased them by a fairly sizable amount. The details are obviously missing and I highly doubt we'll get any sort of official comment until Blizzcon, but I do believe these rumors to be true given what Blizzard has been doing the past few years. According to some of the now-deleted comments and the often-accurate Jason Schreier, the developers on this canceled project are not being let go from the company, but are instead being shifted towards two upcoming games: Diablo 4 and an Overwatch-themed spin-off. However, that was not everything that came as a part of the recent rumor mill. No official explanation was given, but it would appear that the canceled game was a Starcraft themed FPS, possibly Blizzard's second attempt at the once greatly anticipated Starcraft: Ghost. While they got somewhat buried under the slue of new announcements, quite a few rumors surfaced yesterday about Blizzard canceling one of their games after two years of internal development.
